Starting off with the protagonists, I kind of think this:īut then there's also stuff like the Gym Leaders, Champions and other important characters like Zinnia and recurring characters like Looker.
Which leaves in-game dialogue, events and achievements or word of god to decide, but ages of the characters, protagonists in particular, has always been something I've seen many discussion about on the internet, so I thought it would be fun what other people think of the ages and how they think or what clues they use to get to that age. Besides all of that, looking at artwork for example and the facial expressions it's also hard to say, since a lot of the times, it all looks the same, depending on the artstyle. For PCs, it tends to be left ambiguous for you to fill in yourself, but we also have NPCs who's ages don't always get specified, unless stated in say interviews. Although confirmation on this theory may never come to be, it is still an enticing piece of Pokemon Black and White's narrative. So this is something that I thought could maybe be an interesting discussion at how other people look at this after it was discussed shortly in the speculation thread.Īs we know, in anime and game-related works, it's pretty hard to pinpoint someone's age. Nonetheless, the evidence seems far too specific to be coincidental. It seems that even if N isn't a Zoroark, his ties with Pokemon run deep. For example, the toys within N's room are scratched up, as if a Pokemon had been playing with them, and N himself was supposedly " raised by Pokemon" from birth. Such skills would be perfect for taking on the identity of a human in secret.ĭespite all the occurrences provided, there is still more evidence to analyze. It can also mimic human speech quite easily. The Pokémon anime also makes note of Zoroark's ability to create an illusion of anything or anyone. Abstractly, this could potentially suggest that the Zoroark retains this memory, because it is N. This is unlike every other flashback in the game, as all the others are started by interacting with the person who presumably holds that memory. The catch here is the flashback is triggered by interacting with a Zoroark rather than N himself. In the flashback, N is shown listening in on some Team Plasma grunts. N also has a Zoroark in his party when you battle him, which could imply that it is overseeing the battle through an illusion.Īnother worthwhile detail to note comes in the form of a flashback. The Zoroark promptly runs away and once the next area is revealed, the Zoroark is suddenly missing and N takes its place. The most intriguing bit of evidence comes toward the end of Pokémon Black & White, when the player is forced to interact with a Zoroark on their way to meet N. While they both do have long hair, that is mostly where physical similarities end.
Some have noted a relative similarity in appearance between the two. At first, such a concept seems to have no correlation connection to N's character, but upon further inspection, there is a startling amount of evidence to suggest otherwise. N himself may be one of the illusions controlled by a Zoroark. Zoroark is well known for being a master of illusionary tricks, consistently being able to fool humans with false imagery and misdirection. This Pokémon fan theory alleges that N is not a human being at all. While his ideology does come from a place of empathy, much of the plot is centered around the player showing N that the bond held between Pokémon trainers and their creatures is truly something to be cherished. His want to do so comes solely from his belief that Pokemon should be free, much like the humans they serve.
He intends to free Pokémon from the shackles of their trainers, as he wishes to create a world where Pokemon and humans have no relationship. N's goal is simple, but admirable all the same. One of the most memorable of characters in Pokémon Black & White was the Pokemon Trainer N. With these more complicated ideas and themes comes more interesting and diverse characters. Pokémon Black and White's core story serves to question the morality of capturing and using Pokemon for gain, a topic other installments simply wouldn't acknowledge. Perhaps a reason why the Unova games have stuck with fans for so long is due to its more complex narrative. Game Freak's Pokemon Black and Whiteare some of the highest esteemed installments in the franchise's lineup.
